Jagwar Ma

  1. 1. The Throw

  2. 2. Man I Need

Jagwar Ma are Jono Ma and Gabriel Winterfield, from Sydney, Australia who formed in 2011 with the aim to create music influenced by contemporary electronica & classic American pop harmony, Joe Meek & King Tubby, vintage drum machines & radio frequency manipulation, Ray Davies’ vintage amp noise and improvised percussion.

Their music is enjoyable and easily comparable to the Madchester and Baggy music genres of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Noel Gallagher recently praised the band, stating that listening to Jagwar Ma’s debut album, ‘Howlin’, is more important than an Oasis reunion.

Their debut album ‘Howlin’ was released 10th June 2013 on Marathon Artists, available for purchase here, and was recorded in a secluded town in the North of France, just the two of them in an almost farm with an 808, a Fender jaguar, a laptop & a pair of vintage Neve console channels, and neighbors with a thing for hardcore sound systems. Their music in a real fusion of different infuences, with strange 60s psychedelica, pop-like tunefulness, 90s acid house, and Britpop.

'The Throw' has recently been nominated for an AIM Independent Music Award and we are expecting big things from these lads.
