Into the tidal wave of new talent touted as the Big Thing for 2010, allow us to throw a lifesaver. Nottee – aka 24 year old Swede Nonno Drougge - is most definitely one to watch.
A child that began playing guitar at the age of eight, Nottee has most recently been honing her craft as bassist for her brother's band Lo-Fi-Fnk and now strikes out on her own, armed with a barrow load of delicate pop gems.
One of Nottee's earliest musical memory is "Buffalo Stance" by Neneh Cherry. "I must have been four years old when I heard it the first time," she says. "It was in the middle of the night and there was a big thunderstorm outside. I still love that song today, it's an epic pop song. So I think my first crush on music set the standard for me. I like big pop songs with a little drama. Songs that speaks directly to your heart, songs that have that 'magic feeling."
There's a healthy smattering of magic to Nottee's music; it pulsates with dancey beats and housey piano sprinkled with both electronic and acoustic sounds, while the serene voice of Nottee lingers on top – and will no doubt cast a spell on the UK over the next year.
Her self produced track "Control" featured on the Kitsune Maison Compilation 8 out November 2009 and she's currently working on her debut album set for release next year.
Nottee will be coming to the UK in February.
