biography / july 09

It's a new century and the old moves just don't add up to dancing anymore. Four Texan dudes called Honey Claws have come into the fiesta and they're bringin' the future with them. After receiving much critical praise on their debut self-titled album, the crew that is mostly electronic, mostly funky, with a dash of hip-hop is back with the brand new Healer EP.

For their debut, multi-instrumentalists Dr. Zero, Ben Senior, Jon Von Letscher, and Traey Hatch went down in the lab with a pen and a pad (in Austin and Houston, respectively) and came out six months later with a new take on American music. With their new EP, Honey Claws continue their sonic exploration and once again come out on top.

Each of the four tracks on Healer offers something new to the listener. Opening with "Lightning Kill Eye", the party immediately gets started with this feel-good song invoking summer memories and grooves."Pemporer" brings the listener to a darker space with catchy bass lines, reggae-influenced synth chords, and those oh-so-killer horns. We are then brought back into summer mode with the full sound of "Beat of the Wet Eve" which has already been added to major market radio in Australia. Healer closes out with "Orange Kitty Stamp" - a track reminiscent of downtempo Pharrell Williams' production with the unmistakable Honey Claws touch. Healer is a well-rounded, solid example of Honey Claws' musical direction that keeps fans begging for more.
