biography / january 09

Mixel Pixel, originally from Wilmington, Delaware, is heavily influenced by psych-folk music, such as The Byrds, Pink Floyd, and Love, lo-fi music, such as Daniel Johnston and Beck, and experimental electronic artists, such as Bruce Haack and Laurie Anderson.

They have released several albums and are known for their many innovative, quirky and even cute videos (see At the Arcade, Tell Tale Drum Machine, You're the Kind of Girl) made with a variety of collaborators like PaperRad. The videos are often incorporated into their live show in a 3-D manner, bringing another dimension and enhancing the psychedelic element of the performance. Mixel Pixel have toured and performed with Of Montreal, Chairlift, Man Man, Grizzly Bear, Yip Yip, Ariel Pink to name a few.
