Biography

June 11
This Brooklyn based trio has as much future-funk growl as someone like Space Dimension Controller and yet plainly lurking in the background are the hollow guitars of Joy Division and New Order. After their "Ladies Man Effect" EP and single "We've Been Foolish" were excitedly received in Fall of 2010 by sites such as The Guardian, Pitchfork, and XL8R ; Selebrities went into the studio to record their debut full length Album titled "Delusions". Which will arrive spring 2011 on Cascine.

Reviews

"Selebrities are American but they have the aesthetic sense of 1982 northerners. And they're consistent with it: in terms of ambition and design, Selebrities are an immaculate conception."
The Guardian

"How, nowadays do you become rich, beautiful and famous without having to touch the handle you say? The answer lies perhaps in the New York trio of Maria Usbeck, Jer Robert Paulin and Max Peterson consists Selebrities. According to them, we could almost celebrate the meeting of  New Order, The Cure and Chromatics combined. Delight in their EP Ladies Man Effect complimentary. Issued and pop, not unlike the best years where we were serenaded by the light of Sarah Records."
Altered Zones

“You don’t have to dip far into music history to find the ingredients of Selebrities nostalgic pop.  It's very New Order and it’s a bit Altered Images, but thousands of bands rip off these same influences and barely any make it sound this fresh.”
