The Spanish THEE BRANDY HIPS present their second album, Raincoat (Young Hipster Records - Warner Chappel, 2012), a set of 11 hard-hitting, power/ noise pop songs built around compelling melodies born of influences as varied as The Shins, Neutral Milk Hotel, Teenage Fanclub and Guided by Voices.
"Raincoat" was recorded in El Tigre Studios in Bilbao, produced by Jon Aguirrezabalaga and mixed by Xabier Egia (We Are Standard) during the rainy summer of 2011. This album is an expression of light as much as mist - both lyrics and sound capture the vague nostalgia of the end of the summer, when the last rays of sunlight seem nothing but reflections of days past. Jon and Xabi's excellent production raises an imposing wall of guitars and reverb which only contributes to the mood, and leaves just enough space to let the melodies of singer/ bassist Asier Martín slip through.
Thee Brandy Hips have introduced "Raincoat" playing in internationally renowned festivals like the FIB and supporting bands like Primal Scream, The Posies, Deloran and We Are Standard.
