Biography

May 12

We Are Standard hail from Bilbao, but are no strangers to the UK. Their previous album was produced by Andy Gill o f Gang Of Four and they spent 8 months on the hop between London, Madrid and their native Basque Country. Since their previous album, they have gone on to win the MTV European award for Best Spanish band and have performed on the Benicassim Festival Main Stage after Oasis and at festivals such as SXSW, Canadian Music Week and S.O.S Festival.

Mixed  by Alex Ferrer (who mixed Delorean’s highly acclaimed “Ayrton Senna”) Great State heralds a dramatic leap forward for We Are Standard. The EP is a reflection of the band’s current state, rated as one of the best live bands in Spain, they’ve taken all that energy and transformed it an exquisite 5 track EP with hypnotic vocals laced with influences from the early 90s. Their single and EP opener, “07:45 (Bring Me Back Home)”, bristles and burns with the artistic adventurousness and impressive confidence of a band that has come into its own and found its own voice. “Good Ones” is a rave with guitars, dancefloor rhythms and riffs that remind us of classic hits and eternal melodies. “Love”, last track of the EP, bristles with grooves, melody and energy.?
