Biography

March 12
LAS TOCAYAS is a three-piece electro-pop band set in Madrid and Valladolid formed by Nius, Loto and Trejo, although they come from different parts of Spain. Everybody met them when they won a competition of covers of the Spanish nineties indie legend Los Planetas. That was in 2005 and from that moment onwards they have been preparing what it looks like a new sensation in Spanish music. They say that their references are Yo La Tengo or Mercromina, but their songs could make us think of Le Tigre or Feria. They write songs that become hymns from the first moment when you listen to them. "Perro lámpara" ("Lamp dog") or "Me he enamorado de mi tele" ("I've fallen in love with my TV"), a Malaspecto's cover, are only a couple of examples of that best-next-thing that is being cooked and is almost ready to be served in the first months of 2012, in what should be one of the albums to pay attention to this year.
