Biography

January 12

Urban Cone was formed in the fall of 2010, with a line up consisting of the Stockholm youngsters, Rasmus Flyckt, Magnus Folkö, Tim Formgren, Emil Gustafsson and Jacob William Sjöberg. They met up in High School and quickly realized they shared both musical influences and ambition. The Urban Cone sound is a melting pot, bringing together the personal expressions and influences of five individuals. The band comes across as a tightly forged unit where every component is equally important.

”Not having an obvious front is quite rare, but came naturally. Urban Cone has never been about the individual. Everyone´s an equal part of the whole. That whole and what we do as a unit is the key.”

Things have moved quickly for Urban Cone. In the autumn 2010 they uploaded a self produced, well sounding demo of their first song ”Urban Photograph”, on their web site. The track received a lot of attention from various blogs and during the winter peaked as No 2 on The Hype Machine and enjoyed a lengthy stay on the A-list of credible web radio station ”Gimme Indie”. They have since then made much talked about appearances at notable Stockholm clubs Strand and Debaser, the festivals Way Out West, Island In The Sun and twice (!) at Popaganda in Stockholm. They were booked only for the ”pre-festival”, but made such an impact that they were bumped up to play the main festival.

Universal Music signed the band in the spring 2011 and released the first single ”Urban Photograph”.

The band is at the moment in the studio, mixing their first EP ”Our Youth Vol. 1”, together with producer Nille Perned. They also just came to an agreement with the booking agency Luger, which means they will spend a lot of time on the road this fall.

”We´ve had a lot of success and good breaks since we started up, roughly a year ago. But we´ve worked real hard and will continue to do so. We´ve never been ashamed of being ambitious and we truly believe our effort is going to take us to where we want to go. Nobody´s proved us wrong so far.”
