George Barnett Playlist
April 2014

The Multi-instrumental and highly talented George Barnett performs, writes and produces all his own songs, including all the instruments within, supported only by a band when he plays live. He also films and edits his own videos, and prefers not to be confined by genre with his songs containing a fresh mix of beats and melodies which defy pigeon-holing.

Ahead of his anticipated performance at Dot to Dot Festival this May George has given a glimpse into his personal record collection, and made a list of what's currently on his radio as well as tracks which have influenced him previously. Listen in full below.

1. David Bowie - Sound and Vision
I looooove how it takes a whole minute and a half for his voice to come in. Also the drums I think are pitch-shifted & chorused to give it psychedelic effect, probably Eno’s idea (that little tyke). (Aaargh Brian, ya rascal).

2. The Waterboys - Rags
My dad plays this ALL THE TIME and i love it.

3. Route 94 - My Love
Such great melody and wow, that piano sound. it’s like Blu-tack on the ears, in a good way.

4. Vampire Weekend - Step
10/10 for a great vampire weekend - thank god for themed holidays!

5. Pharrell feat. Miley Cyrus - Come Get It Bae
My fave off his new LP. I have no beef with Cyrus, she also is good on this.

6. Bonnie Raitt - I Can’t Make You Love Me
Some sad shit....

7. Prince - Do Me Baby
THIS IS THE GR8EST VOCAL OF ALL TIME!!!!

8. Frank Sinatra - It Was A Very Good Year
I listen to this sometimes when I’m in the bath, it's really great.

9. 50 cent - P.I.M.P.
Every now and then I like to pretend I’m hard……

10. Death Grips - I’ve Seen Footage
….. Which leads me to Death Grips

10. Kanye West - Who Will Survive in America
Awesome song from start to finish, great way to end an album.
