Breton

Breton take their name from the French founder of surrealism - Andre Breton. These four film making, t-shirt designing, electro-art rockers hale from South London and base themselves in BretonLABS - a studio set up in a former bank near Brixton, functioning as studio, home, squat, and party venue. The band released their debut album 'Other People's Problems,' at the end of March 2012, and appeared as a Sub-Sonic band on the Fred Perry Subculture website at the same time. The impressive film making skills are not only applied to their music videos, but are also used to provide impressive visuals to accompany live shows. Breton will be the main support at the November Sub-Sonic Live event at The Garage, on 21st November 2012, sharing the stage with Tom Vek, Coves, and a DJ set from Charli XCX

Factory Floor

Residing on the other side of the Thames to Breton is this North London trio; Factory Floor. Their sounds embody the industrial, late 80s post-punk dark electronic music which was associated with the similarly named Factory Records during that time, meaning Factory Floor certainly live up to their name. Formed in 2005, they have since stayed a truly underground phemomenon, playing live shows to dedicated fans, hypnotising them with repetitive, long and pulsating tracks which draw the audience in with subtle, minimum-toned vocals.

Factory Floor headlined the first Sub-Sonic Live in November 2011 at The Garage, London. To watch footage of their live set, click here

M83

M83 now consists of only one man - Anthony Gonzalez. Originally from France, and now living in California, M83 draws influences from My Bloody Valentine, Sigur Rós, New Order and Smashing Pumpkins, and produces beautifully texturised, electronically tinged shoegaze-soundscapes which are both starkly emotive and tranquil. M83 has an impressive string of sublimely produced albums lying in his wake, and the latest, released in 2011, is 'Hurry Up, We're Dreaming'; a double concept album embedded with the theme of the relationship between a brother and a sister, with each song on the first half emulating one on the other.

M83 appeared on the Subculture website back in 2009, and has since gone on to produce more highly-crafted albums, change and develop his sounds with new influences, been used on numerous soundtracks for film and TV, and generally become more and more widely acclaimed. It will be with great anticipation that we watch what comes next....

Twin Shadow

Twin Shadow is another one man act, comprising of George Lewis Jr. Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in Florida, George was involved in a number of musical groups and projects from a young age, giving him the extensive knowledge of various sounds, styles and techniques so that he was able to start producing bedroom recordings in Brooklyn as Twin Shadow. His influences are superbly eclectic, and include various punk bands, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Boyz II Men, Keith Sweat, and Bobby Brown. He is signed to Grizzly Bear's label Terrible Records, and his second album; 'Confess'  has received widespread critical aclaim, having been created out of inspiration after a motorcycle accident George Lewis Jr experienced in Boston. Twin Shadow's sounds are celestially melodic, encrusted in perfectly executed neo-eighties synths and bass lines.
