Watch Blur live at Maida Vale
Watch highlights from the performance of Blur live at Maida Vale Studios on Tuesday 31st July. Back on the scene and gigging again after three years, this intimate gig was attended by only a lucky few but streamed live in part for the viewing pleasure of the masses. It demonstrates the Colchester quartet's unfaltering chemistry, adding four backing vocalists, a keyboard player and a horn section. The performance was graced by a number of rare tracks including the first ever live performance of "Caramel" which was released on the 1999 "13" album, and "Young and Lovely" from 1993 which has been performed live only once before. Tracks aired for BBC 6 were "Jubilee", "The Puritan", "Caramel", "Trimm Trabb", "Young & Lovely" and "Under The Westway". Tracks then played for Radio 2 were aired live and covered "Tracy Jacks", "Beetlebum", "Out of Time", "Young & Lovely", "End of a Century", "Mr Briggs", "Tender", "This is a Low", "Under the Westway", "Popscene", "For Tomorrow", and "The Universal". Blur will be headlining the Olympics closing show in Hyde Park on 12th August, joined by New Order and Perry favourites The Specials. They have also recently released the "Blur 21" Box Set which spans Blur's entire career and includes a seven-inch recording of "Superman" when Blur were known as Seymour, 3 DVDs and 18 CDs containing 65 previously unreleased tracks.
