BlastOff! New festival alert!
April 2009
The Camden Crawl is gone for another year, Dot to Dot has resigned itself to a sprawling one day event once more, Stag and Dagger is on its way (sponsored by the same people who’ve just sponsored Camden Crawl) and it’s a long stretch until the corporate backed mud-fights of the Summer.
If you’re lusting for something new to satisfy your Spring festival hunger, you could check out the inaugural BlastOff! Festival, in Nottingham, on Thursday 9th, Friday 10th and Saturday 11th July.

With a line up that sounds like it was dreamt up by Faris Rotter and Spider Webb, encompassing “garage punk, 60s beat, rock and roll, R&B, blues, soul, trash, punk, surf, frat, rockabilly and psyche”, and the promise of go-go dancers, cavegirl cage dancers and a “B-movie Monster Madness All-Nighter!”.
There are rare chances to catch bands, including USA surf garage outfit The Ghastly Ones (pictured) who have never played in Europe before, with further talent being imported by The Others (Italy), Los Chicos (Spain), Cherry Overdrive (Denmark) The Oblivians (USA), The Cavestompers (Russia) and many more...
