Jens Lekman to headline Swedish festival

The Grapevine crew were lucky enough to catch Jens Lekman recently, on the home leg of his 2008 tour. His eccentric, energetic, engaging performance kept us all transfixed for the duration of his set.
Whilst comparisons to “Dexy’s Midnight Runners” and other acts from the era of fiddle driven pop are inevitable, Lekman’s originality and enthusiastic stage persona are refreshing, making him harder to pigeonhole than many of his peers.
Such energetic expenditure seems to take its toll though. Lekman will play, what he claims will be his last show of the year, at Hammarkulle Karnevalen on 30th May (Hammarkullen, Sweden),
promising a “very special mystery guest”.
