1Day - UK WM gangster Hip Hop musical
“1Day” tells the story of Flash, a Birmingham gang member whose day begins with a phone call from gang leader, Angel, kindly requesting that he return the half a million notes, that he left with Flash for safe keeping, whilst he was otherwise detained.
With a cast of non-professional actors, picked from the streets of Birmingham, providing the soundtrack, the film looks to be brave move on the part of writer/director, Penny Woolcock, whose previous credits include Channel 4’s controversial, modern day reinterpretation of “Exodus”. “1Day” is sure to attract its fair share of controversy too, promising to create an urban snapshot of the present day West Midlands from the perspective of those living there.
