SPECIALS TO REFORM…

This one really has been a buzz for a couple of years, but it is now official that the legendary Specials intend to re-form. Speaking on BBC Radio London, Terry Hall (lead singer) confirmed that they are rehearsing and plan to do a UK festival date late in September 08. The Specials are regarded as one of the most influential and seminal bands of the last thirty years. We are reliably informed that the band completed their first rehearsal in 28 years a couple of weeks ago and all went well. They plan another rehearsal in May and then will make definite plans as to the dates they will play in 08 and 09.
The Specials have had a unique influence on generations of British bands that have followed them. Artists from Damon Albarn, Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty all openly admit the influence the band (and Terry Hall’s solo career) have had on their own music. There has been talk of new music from the band, but this is apparently off the cards at the moment. Next year will mark the 30th anniversary of the formation of Coventry’s finest and a series of select gigs will be the ticket of the year.
