Hot Horizons

Audio

  1. 1. The Joiner's arms

Biography

May 11

Hot Horizons are two brothers from Leicester, Jake and Rory McCarthy who have enlisted the help of three friends, Richard J Clitheroe, Tom Parkinson and Samuel J Westran to produce beautiful Dub Americana.

Forming a little over a year ago, the inspiration lay between the two brothers desire to create grand ambitious music from home. A desire they have amply achieved, recording their debut EP 'All Of This' in Rory's bedroom late 2010 and into 2011, released through Zarcorp, the very same label as Late Of The Pier.

With acclaim piling in thick and fast from Radio 1's Huw Stephens, XFM and Fader Magazine, they have described their music as "breathless romantic pop".

Hot Horizons make brave and ambitious dreampop, lo-fi and melodic with lauding characteristics. Think Grizzly Bear, Fleet Foxes and King Tubby. Basing opinion on two very strong singles from a debut EP released May 9th, then these guys are easily set to do as well as their comparative counterparts.

Reviews

"...we love what they do: lush Americana with a dub infection, like Grizzly Bear trapped in Lee "Scratch" Perry's Black Ark...It's lo-fi and lovely, woozy yet melodic, like a lot of our favourite music, with a hymnal essence that evokes Fleet Foxes and a coda that is pure King Tubby."
