Alpines
Biography
Alpines are a South London electronica duo comprised of Bob Matthews (Guitars/Production) and Catherine Pockson (Vocals/Keyboards). Recently signing to Polydor, their debut EP "Night Drive" was released March this year.
Supporting Fenech Soler and Frankie and The Heartstrings, their following has gone from strength to strength, with good reason too. Fusing genres between the ages, Alpines create an altogether new feel for 'Night Pop' made famous by James Blake and Jamie Woon. Rattling between trip-hop and neo-dubstep Bob injects a distinct desolate ambience to perfectly entwining with Catherines' clamoring vocals.
Applying art as a way of actualizing their image and overall persona is a big part to the bands concept. Catherine writes her own blog, explaining her objective for prospective Alpines design. "The blog captures my ideas and influences on our aesthetic as whole...It is combination of the electric and the ethereal, which I love".
Such Vision is seldom used to firmly staple a bands illustration, often with conceptual control being left to management. This artistic independence has lead their music to be used in a film by renowned photographer Rankin for designer Hannah Marshall's catwalk show during fashion week.
